ONE BOOK
AT A Time
Our MISSION
The mission of BOOKKIDS is to promote literacy
and the love of reading for the children and youth of Santa Fe.
Hundreds of children in the community face socioeconomic challenges that limit their access to books and reading opportunities outside of school. BOOKKIDS provides free books to students throughout the school year to help build their at-home library and improve their reading skills.
How it all started
BOOKKIDS was established in 2017 as a branch of Communities In Schools. In 2018 it became an independent 501 (c)(3). The purpose of the organization is to promote reading among children and youth in Santa Fe by providing them with books they enjoy for free. In the first year, BOOKKIDS provided 2,400 books to more than 300 children in Santa Fe; Our reach has grown in the community, and to date BOOKKIDS has distributed more than 60,000 books. With your support, we can keep on growing and surpassing our goals every year.
